Science Train

Concept
A group of scientists travel on the MBTA in Boston, and talk to people about science, answer questions, and engage in various discussions.
We find it particularly important to bring science to people on their commute, as outreach often times is inaccessible. While there are many exciting free opportunities to learn about science in Boston, it always requires to be in-the-know.
We hope that this project fills in the gaps, and makes science more open, accessible, and approachable.
Origins
In May 2022, Astronomer Dr. Lucianne Walkowicz gave a seminar at Boston University and introduced this initiative (which was written about in the Time, here). A group of graduate students including John Wendeborn (BU Astronomy PhD 2024) and Lou Baya Ould Rouis, worked to implement it in Boston.
We have been doing Science Train regularly since Spring 2023, sometimes joined by other scientists in the Boston area including physicists and neuroscientists.
If you would like to join us on the train and talk about science, please reach out (inclusiveastronomy [at] gmail.com or lbor [at] bu.edu).
