Uwe received his Ph.D. degree in Neurobiology at McGill University, Montreal, Canada studying the role of APOE isoforms in Alzheimer&#8217;s disease under Dr. Judes Poirier. He conducted his postdoctoral research in Dr. Joachim Herz&#8217;s laboratory at University of Texas Southwestern studying the molecular basis of Apoer2 splicing in synaptic transmission. In 2006, he was recruited to Merck Research Labs, Boston as a Project Team Leader in Neuroscience Drug Discovery.
