Uwe Beffert
Research Assistant Professor
Uwe is a Research Assistant Professor in Biology at Boston University. Uwe received his Ph.D. degree in Neurobiology at McGill University, Montreal, Canada studying the role of APOE isoforms in Alzheimer’s disease under Dr. Judes Poirier. He conducted his postdoctoral research in Dr. Joachim Herz’s laboratory at University of Texas Southwestern studying the molecular basis of Apoer2 splicing in synaptic transmission. In 2006, he was recruited to Merck Research Labs, Boston as a Project Team Leader in Neuroscience Drug Discovery. In 2009, he transitioned back to academia where he is studying the role of lipoprotein receptors in brain development and neurodegeneration.
Uwe was awarded the Human Frontier Science Award, NIH-R01 Research Project Award and the Harold and Margaret Southerland Alzheimer’s Research Fund.
