This essay aims to examine three historical events in Tremont Temple, Abraham Lincoln’s speech in 1848, the tumultuous abolitionist meeting in 1860, and Ralph Waldo Emerson’s speech in 1859 in order to understand the general significance of Tremont Temple to the political consciousness and the Abolitionist Movement in Boston.
