Immigrant Stigma Study
The Immigrant Stigma Study explores the lived experiences of first- and second-generation Asian and Latino/a immigrants living in the United States. Through semi-structured interviews, the research team is examining Asian and Latino/a adult experiences as immigrants in the U.S.. vis a vis how stigma manifests at interpersonal and structural levels, and individual responses to being stereotyped and cultural expectations. The experiences described by participants in the study allow us to map out what the immigrant experience is like for these groups across generations and to explore inter-ethnic differences. The study is part of formative work on a measure being used in the Hybrid clinical trial, to examine stigma related to immigrant status.
