Dr. Griffiths’ group performs much of their work in the NEIDL maximum containment laboratory (Biosafety Level-4), which is required to handle the infectious forms of many of the viruses they study. These include Ebola virus, Marburg virus, Sudan virus, Lassa virus, and Nipah virus. Dr. Griffiths’ laboratory is interested in multiple aspects of virus biology with a view to exploiting this knowledge to further the development of vaccines and therapeutics.
