Avila Kilmurray has worked in the community, women and Trade Union sectors in Northern Ireland since 1975. She was Director of the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland from 1994-2014. During that period she was a founder member of the Foundations for Peace Network. Avila was also a founder member of the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition and a member of its negotiation team for the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement (1998). Avila is currently supporting the work of the Social Change Initiative (SCI) and serves on the Board of the International Fund for Ireland (IFI). She is author of Community Action in a Contested Society: The Story of Northern Ireland (2017).
