{"id":4887,"date":"2015-09-22T14:47:20","date_gmt":"2015-09-22T18:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gastronomyatbu.com\/?p=4887"},"modified":"2018-03-28T17:49:31","modified_gmt":"2018-03-28T21:49:31","slug":"upcoming-lecture-taste-and-judgment-as-a-key-to-becoming-a-responsible-and-enjoying-eater","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/gastronomyblog\/2015\/09\/22\/upcoming-lecture-taste-and-judgment-as-a-key-to-becoming-a-responsible-and-enjoying-eater\/","title":{"rendered":"Upcoming Lecture: Taste and Judgment as a Key to Becoming a Responsible and Enjoying Eater"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the Gastronomy Community and the public are invited to a lecture by Dr. Helle Br\u00f8nnum Carlsen on <em>Taste and Judgment as a Key to Becoming a Responsible and Enjoying Eater (Food &#8220;Bildung&#8221;)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Carls<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/gastronomyblog\/files\/2015\/09\/bronnum-photo-for-lecture.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4897 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/gastronomyblog\/files\/2015\/09\/bronnum-photo-for-lecture.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"bronnum photo for lecture\" width=\"300\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a>en will discuss an aesthetic approach to food, and how food knowledge and attitudes concerning foods (food Bildung, or food literacy) are used to frame the consumer\u2019s choice as those of a responsible, reflexive human being. Dr. Carlsen, a scholar in food and aesthetics, obtained her Ph.D. at the Danmarks institut for P\u00e6dagogik og Uddannelse, now \u00c5rhus University, from the Institute of Pedagogical Philosophy. She also has a Master of Arts in Literature from Copenhagen University, where she studied food and literature, and a Master\u2019s degree in Nutrition and Biochemistry from DPU. In addition to teaching, Dr. Carlsen has served as an advisor for the Copenhagen House of Food, as a chef consultant for\u00a0the Ministry\u00a0of Education,\u00a0food critic\/reviewer in the monthly gastro-magazine <em>Smag og Behag<\/em>, freelance food writer, and lecturer.
