Research Team:

Bethany Garcia is a Project Manager at Boston University for the Future Leaders Program and research study. Bethany is the main point of contact for youth and families.

Dr. Dana Rusch is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Director of the Immigrant Family Mental Health Advocacy Program at the Institute for Juvenile Research at the University of Illinois Chicago. She is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Chicago site.

Dr. Jennifer Green is a Professor at Boston University in the Wheelock College of Education & Human Development and is one of the Principal Investigators (PIs) of the study. Along with Dr. Cruz-Gonzalez, she oversees the Future Leaders Program.

Dr. Mario Cruz-Gonzalez is an Instructor of Medicine and Research Scientist at Harvard Medical School and the Disparities Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is one of the Principal Investigators (PIs) of the study and, along with Dr. Green, he oversees the Future Leaders Program. 


Kamryn Brown is the Clinical Research Coordinator at the Chicago site.


Dr. Margarita Alegria is Chief of the Disparities Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is a Co-Investigator on the Future Leaders Program and developed the LEAP intervention. 


Dr. Astraea Augsberger is an Associate Professor in the Boston University School of Social Work. She is a Co-Investigator and oversees the qualitative research activities of the project. 


Dr. Tyler Renshaw is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Utah State University. He is a Co-Investigator on the project and, as an expert in school-based mindfulness, he supports the integration of mindfulness into LEAP.


Sheri Lapatin Markle is an Associate Director at the Mental Health Disparities Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and supports LEAP implementation.


Carolina Diaz San Francisco is a Program Manager, Community Health Worker, and anthropology adjunct faculty at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) based at the Disparities Research Unit (DRU), Massachusetts General Hospital, and supports LEAP implementation and training.


                                                                                                                                                     Dr. Andrew Buck is a Research Scientist in the Nisonger Center at The Ohio State University. Dr. Buck oversees training and implementation of the EnvisionIT program.  


Wilmary Tejeda is the Chief Student Services and Enrollment Officer at METCO Incorporated in Boston.


Karli Janssen is a College and Career Readiness Coordinator at METCO at METCO Incorporated in Boston.​
