Leighton Cline
Leighton is a first-year PhD student in Materials Science. His research in Prof. Brown’s lab emphasizes autonomous approaches to polymer synthesis and characterization, with the goal of using machine-directed, highly-automated experiments to optimize organic materials for batteries, solar cells, and other greentech applications. Prior to beginning at BU, Leighton worked as a materials and process engineer at Blue Origin focused on polymer 3D printing for in-space applications. He has a BS in Materials Science and Engineering from NC State University, and MS in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Washington where he worked with the Luscombe group studying synthesis and defect engineering in polythiophenes.
