Lucille Sternberg
Lucille (Lucy) is a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Boston University working in Dr. James Chapman’s Materials Informatics Lab. In her current research, she employs density functional theory to study the influence of compositional disorder in high entropy alloys (HEA). Through this work she seeks to better understand how to tailor HEAs for sustainable applications as electrocatalysts. In 2022 Lucy participated in the ENERGY REU at Binghamton University as a mentee of the Smeu Group where she investigated the electronic conductivity of doped LLZO, she later received her B.A. in physics and computer science at Mount Holyoke College in 2023. In her free time Lucy enjoys running, playing video games, and hanging out with her roommate’s cats, Lily and Purrlock Holmes.
