The kitchens are equipped with microwaves and refrigerators. In addition, the<\/span><b> 3rd-floor kitchen PHO 320<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 have free coffee\/tea for grad students. Don\u2019t forget to bring your mug!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h7 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Housing<\/h7><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span><strong>On-campus Housing:<\/strong> BU Real-Estate offers on-campus housing: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/realestate\/\"><span>https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/realestate\/<\/span><\/a><span><span>. This year students have the opportunity to apply online for all on-campus units. There are two kinds of units available: apartment style and dorm style. Apartments are more costly to rent while Peabody Hall is more dorm-style with lower rents. BU properties generally require the first month\u2019s rent and a security deposit<sup><span class=\"aCOpRe\">\u2021<\/span><\/sup> (~one month\u2019s rent) upfront. Wait lists can be months long. Therefore, we suggest that you apply as early as possible.<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span><span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"aCOpRe\">\u2021<\/span> Note that if you place a deposit on an apartment and change your mind about renting it, your deposit may not be returned.<\/li>\n<li><span><strong>Off-campus Housing:<\/strong> BU Off-Campus Services is a valuable resource for off-campus house hunting: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/offcampus.bu.edu\/\"><span>https:\/\/offcampus.bu.edu\/<\/span><\/a><span>. Other rental websites may also be useful. Off-campus housing may require you to submit 1st and last month\u2019s rent as well as a security deposit upfront, so the amount of money to be paid upfront may be 2-4 times of one month\u2019s rent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><strong>Graduate Resident Assistants:<\/strong> Living in dorms as graduate resident assistants is another option, which could be beneficial for saving money, however being an RA could be time-consuming.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>For more information: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/grad\/living-in-boston\/finding-housing\/\"><span>https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/grad\/living-in-boston\/finding-housing\/<\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beware!<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Remember your stipend will be taxed (you can ask current students about the taxes), which means you may not be able to afford living alone.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Be careful about housing posts that look like they are too good to be true. You can see many such posts on Facebook, Craigslist, and other social media.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>You can find pieces of furniture for free or very cheap in the Fall in Boston.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>When calculating budget, mind the electricity, internet, water, heating bills, etc. These may be included in the rent for some housing options, or not at all.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Try to get in touch with a former\/current resident.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>When in doubt, don&#8217;t hesitate to email more senior students (or ECE GSA) to ask for housing advice!<\/span><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h7 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Student Organizations<\/h7><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/ecegsa\/\"><strong>ECE Graduate Student Association (ECE GSA)<\/strong><\/a>: Student organization that aims to enhance the experience and outcomes of the ECE graduate student programs.\u00a0\u00a0<span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sage\/\"><strong>Student Association of Graduate Engineers (SAGE)<\/strong><\/a>: Organizes social and professional events for all graduate students in ENG.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/gwise\/\"><strong>Graduate Women in Science and Engineering (GWISE) &amp; WISEguys<\/strong><\/a>: Organizes professional development, social and outreach events particularly for graduate women in ENG and science disciplines.
