PhD Mentoring Lunch
The ECE GSA Mentoring Program collaborated with the BU Wellbeing project and hosted a mentoring lunch for the first-year Ph.D. cohort. Small table discussions were held on navigating the first year of grad school where mentors facilitated the discussions.
Securing a Job in the US: Panel for International Graduate Students
ECE GSA joined with the BU MRS Chapter and hosted a panel of BU alumni and a representative from the ISSO to discuss pathways to jobs in the US after graduation. We sincerely thank our panelists Dr. Yuting Zhang, Dr. Wen-Han Yu, and Ms. Valentina Toll Villagra.
Graduate Student Internship Panel
The ECE GSA reached out to grad students who have done internships to share their experiences with peers. The panel was held on October 3rd and we were joined by Emre Ates, Waleed Tahir, and Kubra Cilingir. They discussed on when to do internships, how to find internships, how to apply, how to make the best out of internships among many other interesting topics. The panel was well received by the graduate students and we sincerely thank the panelists for participating.
Peer Mentoring Program Kick-off
ECE GSA collaborated with the ECE department and initiated a peer mentoring program for the 1st year Ph.D. students. Each student is paired up with a current Ph.D. student.
During the kick-off meeting, mentors and mentees got a chance to connect with each other.
We had Prof. Ayse Coskun speaking to the participants of the mentoring program and giving much-needed advice.
Ice Cream Social at the PhD Orientation
ECE GSA joined hands with the department to welcome the incoming Ph.D. cohort.
We hosted an Ice Cream Social for the newcomers to cool off the long morning of presentations and to connect with peers
