{"id":5,"date":"2018-08-23T10:52:02","date_gmt":"2018-08-23T14:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/ece-ireu\/international-research-experience-for-undergraduates\/"},"modified":"2020-04-13T17:03:00","modified_gmt":"2020-04-13T21:03:00","slug":"international-research-experience-for-undergraduates","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/ece-ireu\/","title":{"rendered":"BU ECE International Research Experience for Undergraduates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The International Research Experience for Undergraduates (iREU) program sponsored by Boston University Electrical and Computer Engineering Department provides\u00a0<span>an opportunity<\/span>\u00a0to international undergraduate students\u00a0<span>to actively participate in cutting edge short term research projects.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our program provides research opportunities through support of participating mentors in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Materials and devices for photonics application<\/li>\n<li>Novel imaging technology and processing<\/li>\n<li>Nanotechnology that regulate, sense, and manipulate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The program includes\u00a0<span>laboratory research in a variety of engineering faculty laboratories, training on scientific communication through laboratory group meetings, group activities such as shared seminars with other undergraduate researchers.\u00a0Students will participate in mentored discovery, engineering of new technology and devices, while developing critical research skills, awareness and confidence necessary to advance in academics and research in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our summer program starts early July and ends at the end of August. Continuing the program to fall semesters is possible based on mutual agreement of the student participates, the mentor, BU and the home institute of the student participates.<\/p>\n<p>This program is directed by Prof. Chen Yang and supported by BU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, BU Photonics Center, BU College of Engineering, BU International Students and Scholars Office, and BU Office of\u00a0Global Programs. Our program is also financially and administratively supported by Zhejiang University and University of Science and Technology of China.
