Social forces and technological elements are driving changes in this developing field of study.This conference is an opportunity to bridge diverse perspectives on the roles of users and technology in new media, and will lay the groundwork for future research.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #9f190e;\">Topics<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\" size=\"15\"><span>Emerging Media Studies is an inherently interdisciplinary field; we welcome abstracts from a variety of perspectives and disciplines on a range of topics, including but not limited to: <\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"layoutArea\">Civility, sub-cultures, and online discourse<\/li>\n<li class=\"layoutArea\">Uses and effects of mobile communication technologies<\/li>\n<li class=\"layoutArea\">Digital distribution and industry disruption<\/li>\n<li class=\"layoutArea\">Data mining on social networks<\/li>\n<li class=\"layoutArea\">Emerging technologies\u2019 effects on users<\/li>\n<li class=\"layoutArea\">Video games and virtual worlds<\/li>\n<li class=\"layoutArea\">Digital communication and public health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>The conference is free of charge to both presenters and attendees.
