In this realm, we have done extensive work to characterize dispersal potential of corals and their symbionts across reefs using population genetics\/genomics and biophysical modeling. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/davieslab\/files\/2020\/11\/nsf-633x636.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"633\" height=\"636\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-909\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/davieslab\/files\/2020\/11\/nsf-633x636.png 633w, https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/davieslab\/files\/2020\/11\/nsf-1019x1024.png 1019w, https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/davieslab\/files\/2020\/11\/nsf-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/davieslab\/files\/2020\/11\/nsf-768x772.png 768w, https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/davieslab\/files\/2020\/11\/nsf-1528x1536.png 1528w, https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/davieslab\/files\/2020\/11\/nsf-100x100.png 100w, https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/davieslab\/files\/2020\/11\/nsf.png 1722w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 633px) 100vw, 633px\" \/>Dr. Davies recently led an NSF-funded workshop titled &#8220;Building consensus around the quantification and interpretation of Symbiodiniaceae diversity&#8221; with co-PI&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelifeaquatic.net\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. John Parkinson<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.owlnet.rice.edu\/~ac53\/index.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Adrienne Correa<\/a>. We gathered >75 Symbiodiniaceae researchers together virtually to work together to address some of the challenges our commmunity has faced with respect to quantifying and interpreting Symbiodiniaceae genetic data.
