This policy has remained intact for over one hundred years.\u00a0 Since the establishment of the reservations, State laws have been restricted to State territory.\u00a0 If there is a charge of sexual child abuse on a reservation, the State law enforcement cannot intervene.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/daniellerousseau\/files\/2022\/08\/Picture1-636x358.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2036 aligncenter\" width=\"636\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/daniellerousseau\/files\/2022\/08\/Picture1-636x358.png 636w, https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/daniellerousseau\/files\/2022\/08\/Picture1.png 767w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Child sexual abuse is defined as an adult&#8217;s use of a minor to satisfy sexual needs. Child sexual abuse is defined as a crime within State law. \u00a0However, on Native American reservations, tribes create definitions within their own tribal codes to satisfy their community and law enforcement standards. \u00a0It is also illegal for state authorities to enforce state laws on reservations.\u00a0 Most cases of child sexual abuse develop gradually over time, and the offender is known to the child in 90 percent of cases (Miller-Perrin &amp; Bartol, 2021, p. 106). \u00a0Deindividuation is the encouragement by others that a person is not present.\u00a0 Their anonymity can lead a factor of their victimization.\u00a0 A sexual predator can lose their identity and becomes part of the violating pack.\u00a0 This feeling generates a &#8220;loss of self-awareness, reduces concern over evaluations from others, and a narrowed focus of attention&#8221;
