She is an Assistant Professor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/academics\/departments-programs\/speech-language-hearing-sciences\/\">Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences<\/a> at Boston University. She is also <span>affiliate faculty in Wheelock College of Education &amp; Human Development&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/ecinstitute\/\">Institute for Early Childhood Well-Being<\/a>. In 2024, Dr. Crespo was selected as one of eight\u00a0faculty members to be named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/people-2\/fellows\/junior-faculty-fellows\/\">Junior Faculty\u00a0<span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"markiu9wuasas\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Fellow<\/span>s<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hic\/\">Boston University Rafik B. Hariri Institute for Computing\u00a0<span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"mark09yuu0mlu\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">and<\/span>\u00a0Computational\u00a0<span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"markyqvj0h98z\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Science<\/span>\u00a0&amp;\u00a0<span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"markdtiwxivh2\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Engineering<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Her scholarly interests focus on investigating how interactions between input factors (i.e., dual language input; speaker variability) and cognitive abilities (i.e., attention; memory; language ability) impact language learning. Her research employs a range of experimental methods to achieve two primary objectives: 1) to identify factors that contribute to variability in language development, and 2) to understand and predict the developmental trajectory of language impairment in bilingual children.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Crespo teaches the undergraduate course\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/sar\/courses\/sar-sh-531\/\">SAR SH531\u00a0Introduction to Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences.<\/a> She\u00a0developed and teaches\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/academics\/departments-programs\/speech-language-hearing-sciences\/master-of-science-in-speech-language-pathology\/sample-curriculum\/\">SAR SH725: Bilingual Considerations in Language Assessment and Intervention<\/a> for BU&#8217;s\u00a0<a class=\"level_3 active_section\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/academics\/departments-programs\/speech-language-hearing-sciences\/master-of-science-in-speech-language-pathology\/\" title=\"Navigate to: Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology\">Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program<\/a>.
