Our research focuses particularly on bilingual children ages 2\u20138. We are currently conducting both online and in-person research studies with families from Spanish-, Mandarin-, and English-speaking communities. Undergraduate research assistants (RAs) work closely with graduate students and faculty in the lab and gain valuable experience for careers in healthcare, speech-language pathology, psychology, education, and developmental research.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Undergraduate RAs may be involved in one or more of the following activities:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2022 Participant recruitment and communication with families<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022 Transcription of video-recorded parent\u2013child interactions<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022 Transcription of children\u2019s language samples from standardized assessments<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022 Coding and scoring behavioral and language data<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022 Database organization and data management<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022 Supporting preparation of research materials and study stimuli<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Spanish-speaking students or students with strong Spanish proficiency are highly encouraged to apply, as many of our participating families are Spanish-speaking.<\/span><br \/>\n<span>Lab policy requires undergraduate research assistants to volunteer for at least two semesters and approximately 5\u20138 hours per week. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After completing two semesters in the lab, students may have additional opportunities to:<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022 Transition to paid research assistant positions (when available)<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022 Receive mentorship in submitting a UROP proposal<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022 Conduct an independent project or honors thesis<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are interested, please fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/crespolab\/1002-2\">undergraduate RA interest form<\/a>, or send us your resume to <a href=\"mailto:cresplab@bu.edu\">cresplab@bu.edu<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Undergraduate Research Assistants:\u00a0 Volunteer basis Potential for UROP funding Potential for academic credit The Bilingual Learning Lab examines language and cognitive development in children with and without neurodevelopmental disorders.
