{"id":1040,"date":"2020-12-03T11:40:51","date_gmt":"2020-12-03T16:40:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/covid-corps\/?page_id=1040"},"modified":"2021-03-08T14:53:51","modified_gmt":"2021-03-08T19:53:51","slug":"new-vaccines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/covid-corps\/projects\/science-communication\/new-vaccines\/","title":{"rendered":"Understanding the New Vaccines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Taylor Paiva<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>Three COVID-19 vaccines have been approved for emergency use as of March 2021: mRNA vaccines produced by Moderna and Pfizer\/BioNTech, and an adenovirus vaccine produced by Johnson and Johnson.\u00a0<\/span><span>On November 9th, 2020, Pfizer announced that their vaccine candidate was found to be more than 90% effective in preventing COVID-19 infections.\u00a0<\/span><span>Just a few days later, on November 16th, Moderna announced that their vaccine candidate showed 95% efficacy. Both candidates here approved for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) in December 2020.
