Dillon Brout

Assistant Professor (Astronomy & Physics)

Research Interests: Type Ia Supernova Cosmology, Dark Energy, Dark Matter.

Personal Website: djbrout.github.io

Professor Brout’s research group ties together cosmological distance and velocity measurements of the universe with the fundamental physical properties such as dark energy, dark matter, ordinary matter, and Einstein’s general relativity.

Professor Brout is currently leading several major cosmological experiments (SH0ES, Pantheon+, DES, DESI, and DECAT). These extremely large datasets cataloging the universe employ state of the art machine learning, statistical, data processing, and modeling techniques on a regular basis.

Professor Brout co-chairs the LSST DESC Time Domain Working Group and the DESI Time-Domain and Low-Redshift Cosmology working group.

Hariri Institute Faculty Affiliate and Junior Faculty Fellow (2024)
