Robert Brout Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cosmology and Astro-Particle Physics

The Departments of Physics and Astronomy at Boston University are pleased to announce the Robert Brout Postdoctoral Fellowship, designed to support the independent research of outstanding early-career scientists in Cosmology and Astro-Particle Physics. The fellowship is named in honor of Robert Brout, who embodied the interdisciplinary excellence in particle physics and cosmology that the BU Astro-Particle Cosmology group represents.
For the Fall 2025 application cycle, the committee seeks applications from experts in the areas of late-universe cosmology (e.g. large scale structure, baryon acoustic oscillations, or supernova cosmology).
This fellowship offers a three-year appointment that includes a competitive salary ($80,000), an annual discretionary research fund, and comprehensive health benefits. This fellowship offers an opportunity to carry out independent and original research synergistic with the BU Cosmology Initiative. BU maintains a vibrant research environment spanning numerous areas of Cosmology, Particle Physics, and Astrophysics. Existing cosmology research programs at BU include studies of dark energy, cosmic dynamics and structure formation, studies of and searches for dark matter, galaxies and galaxy clusters, big bang nucleosynthesis, dark ages cosmology, cosmic microwave background, line intensity mapping, and more. BU is active in cosmic surveys including DES, DESI, LSST, CMB-S4, Bicep/Keck, NASA Roman, and more. Further details about BU’s cosmology program can be found at www.sites.bu.edu/cosmology.
For additional information regarding this fellowship, applicants are welcome to contact the selection committee (RBM_fellowship at bu.edu).
Applicants are asked to submit:
1) curriculum vitae with a list of publications
2) research statement (up to three pages) outlining their interests and future plans
3) three letters of recommendation sent directly by letter writers to ereynold (at) bu.edu.
Fellowship Applications are due on or before Dec 1st 2025.
Please submit your materials to Erin Reynolds (assistant director of the BU Institute for Astrophysical Research)
via email at ereynold (at) bu.edu
