Autumn Grimins

I joined the lab through the PREP program in the fall of 2020. My project has focused on understanding the mechanism behind a small molecule inhibitor that blocks virus replication. I am taking a biochemical approach to map the compound’s ability to block virus replication at the transcription/translation step and cell biology approaches to track where the small molecule inhibitor is located within the cell. The goal is to use both of these lines of research to identify the protein target of the inhibitor, uncovering an avenue for future antiviral development.
