We drew this scene with colored pencils and a black pen and digitized it with Mac Preview. The white background signifies the emptiness of the Valley of Poverty &amp; Nothingness from which they have just emerged. The colors, too, go from colder blues and greens in the back to warmer, fiery oranges and reds as &#8220;love [begins to make] the birds impetuous and unafraid.&#8221; There are thirty birds, including some which still appear as circles, as &#8220;insubstantial, trembling atoms gaz[ing]&#8221; toward the &#8220;promised goal&#8221;.
