The Women’s Health Unit is the host of the Community Engagement program of the Boston University Clinical and Translational Science Institute (BU CTSI). The BU CTSI is one of 60+ centers across the United States working to speed up the process of “translating” findings from research into practical solutions to improve health.

Our activities support many stakeholders (researchers, community organizations, providers, and our institutions) in understanding the goals and principles of community engagement. We also support new and ongoing partnerships around achieving health equity.

Our aim is to increase the amount of research that is done WITH the community. We offer a variety of services ranging from Consultations and Training and Education to Community Engagement Pilot Funding, that all build capacity to do and sustain this work.

The CE program operates under the leadership of WHU Director Tracy Battaglia MD, MPH, Linda Sprague Martinez, PhD, and the guidance of our many partners.
