CCH research scientists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/chad-milando\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Chad Milando <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/emma-gause\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Emma Gause<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/kipruto-kirwa\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Kipruto Kirwa<\/a> (Environmental Health) were awarded an early stage urban research award from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ioc\/2024\/05\/08\/2024-early-stage-urban-research-awards\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">BU\u2019s Initiative on Cities (IOC)<\/a> to study the effect of historical redlining on heat vulnerability in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/amruta-nori-sarma\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/amruta-nori-sarma\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Amruta Nori Sarma<\/a> (Environmental Health) also secured an early stage urban research award from the IOC to examine the intersection of vulnerabilities related to urban heat islands, homelessness, and serious mental illness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/chad-milando\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Chad Milando<\/a>, with support from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sph\/profile\/matthew-fox\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Matt Fox<\/a> (Epidemiology) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/compbiomed\/people\/faculty\/vijaya-b-kolachalama-ph-d\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Vijay Kolachalama<\/a> (Medicine and Computational Biomedicine), was also awarded a small grant under the BU SPH pilot program to to develop and apply a precision medicine approach to identifying who is at greatest risk of heat-related illness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Several CCH affiliates have been awarded pilot funding for climate and health work recently.
