Chemical Instrumentation Center
The Center is available to users on a 24/7 open-access basis upon completion of instrument training. Instrumentation in the facility includes AA, CD, DSC, EPR, Fluorescence, FT-IR, GC-MS, HPLC, LC/MS, NMR, MALDI-TOF, UV-Vis, Polarimetry, SPR and Xray Crystallography.
The CIC’s objectives are to:
- Train postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students in instrument use
- Facilitate in the design and execution of experiments
- Assist in data analysis and interpretation
The CIC has in-house experts in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Mass Spectrometry, Xray Crystallography and other instrumentation. These instrumentation specialists provide extensive hands-on training to all BU users, and they are available for consultation to clients outside of BU as well.
The CIC is a 5,500 square foot facility located in the basement of the Metcalf Center for Science and Engineering building on the Charles River Campus. Located next to Kenmore Square, it is easily accessible by public transportation and the BU shuttle service.
