Students majoring in Middle East & North African (MENA<\/strong>) Studies will ordinarily, through coursework in the major, satisfy BU Hub requirements in Diversity, Civic Engagement, and Global Citizenship, as well as some requirements in Philosophical, Aesthetic and Historical Interpretation, Scientific and Social Inquiry, Communication, and the Intellectual Toolkit. Remaining BU Hub requirements will be satisfied by selecting from a wide range of available courses outside the major or, in some cases, cocurricular experiences.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

A typical first semester Middle East & North African Studies schedule looks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Course #1: <\/strong>Middle East & North African Studies Principal Course<\/h5>
    <\/strong><\/p>\n

    Your first course should be a 100- or 200-level MENA course, selected from one of the following categories: Introduction to the Region, Humanities, or Social Sciences. Review the MENA courses offered this semester<\/span><\/a>, organized by category, to help you select a course. You can also see the MENA Bulletin page<\/a> for a list of all MENA courses that fulfill the major.<\/p>\n

    *Many of the courses listed are upper-level courses designed for upperclassmen. Make sure you pick an appropriate level class by selecting a course with a 100- or 200-level code<\/strong> (e.g. CAS HI 176 or CAS RN 214). Also make sure you have met any prerequisites for the course you select.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Additionally, some courses from the International Relations major MENA track<\/a> may also be applicable to the MENA major, but you need to consult with your academic advisor to ensure that any course of interest from this list will apply.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
