Create your BU login &amp; email account <\/strong>(skip if you have already created your BU login and email)<strong>: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>This login will not only be your primary method of communication at BU, but also your login for BU portals and many resources. <\/span><b>You must activate this account before completing any of the steps below.<\/b><span> You will receive an email with instructions to set up your email account after paying your enrollment deposit. You can also find comprehensive instructions <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/cccs\/email\/bu-email\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>here<\/span><\/a><span>. <\/span><span>If you run into any issues setting up your account, please contact BU IT at ithelp@bu.edu<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Sign up for Orientation<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/undergradorientation\/how-to-join\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sign up for Orientation<\/a> by July 1st, 2026. If you are trying to register for Orientation after the 7\/1 deadline, please email <a href=\"mailto:orientation@bu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">orientation@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Set up academic and\/or housing accommodations for qualified students with disabilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are eligible for academic and\/or housing accommodations, you should begin working with Disability &amp; Access Services (DAS) as soon as possible. To begin:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fill out the DAS <a href=\"https:\/\/bu-accommodate.symplicity.com\/public_accommodation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Student Intake Form<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"none\">Submit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/disability\/current-students\/requesting-accommodations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">documentation<\/a> of your disability. Please note that DAS receives faxes by email<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Schedule an intake appointment with a DAS staff member by calling 617-353-3658.<\/li>\n<li>For more information, please see the DAS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/disability\/incoming-students\/request-accommodations-new-and-incoming-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website <\/a> and their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/disability\/current-students\/transitioning-to-college\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recommendations for those transitioning to college<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">STEP#2: Familiarize Yourself With Your Degree Fundamentals<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You will need to complete all of the following requirements in order to earn your Bachelor of Arts from CAS. <span>Please use the links below to further explore these degree requirements. We<\/span><span> want you to have a general understanding at this time; don\u2019t worry about trying to memorize every minute detail.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>A minimum of 128 academic units<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/casreg\/transfer-hub-page\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BU Transfer Hub<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; <span>The Hub is BU\u2019s general education requirements. As a transfer student, your Hub requirements must be fulfilled with BU coursework, not transfer credit. You are therefore held to the abridged Transfer Hub requirements that are linked above<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/academics\/undergraduate-education\/academic-advising\/advising\/language-advising\/foreign-language-requirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Language Requirement<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; <span>CAS requires all students to demonstrate or develop proficiency at or above the fourth-semester level in one language other than English. There are multiple ways to fulfill this requirement, including external credit.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/cas\/programs\/natural-sciences-laboratory-requirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Natural Science Requirement<\/b><\/a><span> \u2013 CAS requires all students entering Fall 2025 and later to complete one natural science course with a lab component. This can be fulfilled through BU coursework, advanced credit (such as AP or IB scores), or transfer credit.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/cas\/programs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Major Program Requirements<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Use the Academic Bulletin to explore the requirements for the major(s) you are interested in. You can also visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/departments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">program or academic department webpage<\/a> to explore program resources and course recommendations. <span>\u00a0Your general education\/Hub requirements <\/span><span>w<\/span><span>ill be interwoven throughout your coursework at BU<\/span><span>; this means your major courses may also fulfill Hub requirements.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/casreg\/transfer-hub-and-major-guides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Major + Hub Guides<\/a> to gain a better understanding of what courses to take this semester and which Hub requirements you will\/won&#8217;t complete within your major.<\/strong> (If you are not sure what you&#8217;d like to major in, look through the Undeclared Transfer Guide for Registration.) <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">STEP #3: Explore Specialized Academic Opportunities<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>BU offers a variety of specialized courses and academic programming that may be of interest to you. This course also fulfills a single Hub requirement in<em>\u00a0Individual In The Community.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/casreg\/bu-hub-opportunities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>BU Hub Opportunities<\/b><\/a><span> \u2013 In addition to Hub courses, there are several distinct and innovative Hub learning experiences that encourage exploration and allow students to engage with faculty, staff, and students across the University. <\/span><strong><\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">STEP #4: Consider External Course Evaluations &amp; Advanced Credit<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interpreting Transfer Course Evaluations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You should have already begun the transfer course evaluation process to determine BU course equivalencies. You can track this transfer evaluation on MyBU Student. To expedite this process, please make sure you have submitted all syllabi and official transcripts with final grades to BU.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Your transfer credit is listed in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mybustudent.bu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>MyBU Student<\/span><\/a><span> under MyAcademics. Review the information below to determine the status and\/or your next steps regarding your transfer credit:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>If a course\u2019s evaluation decision is marked as <\/span><b>T<\/b><span>, you received transfer units for it.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>If the evaluation decision is marked as <\/span><b>TX<\/b><span>, you did not receive transfer units.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Courses will appear as <strong>Rejected<\/strong> when newly submitted transcripts are added to the student\u2019s record, but Credit Evaluation has not yet reviewed them. Rejected does NOT mean the courses were rejected for transfer; they are simply in the process of being evaluated by the Credit Evaluation team.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Your evaluation decision indicates how many Boston University units (aka credits) it is worth and the specific BU course it has been equated to (if applicable).<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Some evaluation decisions may still be pending \u2013 these may be marked with <strong>TP<\/strong> or <strong>TS <\/strong>(instead of T or TX). Those courses are given an evaluation of \u201cT\u201d and are then given a generic course number.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><span>For example, a course called \u201cAuthors of California\u201d could be evaluated by our English department as appropriate to transfer in, but we don\u2019t offer a course with that subject, so it could be equated to \u201cCAS EN 2TR\u201d which means it\u2019s equivalent to a 200-level English course.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>As your external courses are being evaluated, you can review the <a href=\"https:\/\/tes.collegesource.com\/publicview\/TES_publicview01.aspx?rid=f3c0908c-8809-4592-a06a-2ec9c2c3acc8&amp;aid=adbaa968-6ce9-47a6-9b99-43d30cdd2d67\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Transfer Equivalency Site (TES)<\/a> for US-based institutions. You can search for your previous institution to see what courses may have been previously evaluated and the potential BU credit.<\/li>\n<li>You can read more about transfer credits and the evaluation process <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/transfer-credit\/stages-of-transfer-evaluation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have questions about your evaluations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For US-based institutions &#8211; you can contact the <strong>Credit Evaluation Office<\/strong> at <a href=\"mailto:credeval@bu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">credeval@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>For an institution outside of the US &#8211; you can contact <strong>International Admissions<\/strong> at <a href=\"mailto:intadmis@bu.edu\">intadmis@bu.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>External Units through Examination Scores or Dual Enrollment<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>You may be entering BU with AP, IB, GCE, or other exam scores, or you may have taken college-level courses while in high school through a dual enrollment program. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/casreg\/external-credit-automatically-awarded\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">review how this external credit may count towards your degree here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>You must send an official score report to Boston University in order to have your test scores reviewed for BU credit<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>All Advanced Placement (AP) reports should be sent to the Admissions Office directly from <a href=\"https:\/\/apstudents.collegeboard.org\/sending-scores\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CollegeBoard<\/a> (CEEB code &#8211; 3087).<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>All international score reports (such as IB, GCE, etc.) should be sent to the International Admissions Office at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:intadmis@bu.edu\"><span>intadmis@bu.edu<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Dual enrollment forms are available through the link above and should be emailed to <a href=\"mailto:credeval@bu.edu\">credeval@bu.edu<\/a> with an official transcript.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please note<\/strong>: the information above is to guide you through the initial steps of advanced credit or dual enrollment. You should also work with your academic advisor to determine if and how this may count towards your overall degree and how it may impact your course registration.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">STEP #5: Register for Courses<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once you have read through all the information provided in the steps above, you are ready to register for your four, 4-unit academic courses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A typical first-semester schedule looks like:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>Major required course<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Major required course <\/b><em>or<\/em><b> Course of interest<\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>Language course<\/strong>\u00a0<em>or<\/em>\u00a0<strong>Course of interest<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><b>Hub course<\/b><\/li>\n<li><em>Optional add-on:<\/em> <strong>HUB FY 101<\/strong> First-Year Seminar<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span>In more detail, this means:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Major required course<\/b><span>: Aim for 1-2 major courses this semester. Consider your<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/cas\/programs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <span>major requirements<\/span><\/a><span> and expected external credit as you select these. Directions on how to review your external credit are in Step #4.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Course of interest: <\/b><span>Select a course that interests you \u2013 perhaps based on subjects you\u2019ve enjoyed in the past or a new subject you\u2019re excited to try for the first time!<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Language course: <\/b><span>If you plan to fulfill this language requirement through coursework at BU, you\u2019ll likely want to take a language course this semester.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><span>If you\u2019re <\/span><i><span>new<\/span><\/i><span> to the language, start with the first-semester level (usually coded as 111 \u2013 for example, Spanish 1 is CAS LS 111, Arabic 1 is CAS LY 111, etc.).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><span>If you <\/span><i><span>have previously studied<\/span><\/i><span> the language, take a placement test to determine what level to start with (for instance, CAS LS 112 Spanish 2, CAS LY 211 Arabic 3, CAS LK 212 Korean 4, etc.). Please review the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/academics\/undergraduate-education\/academic-advising\/advising\/language-advising\/foreign-language-requirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span> CAS Language Requirement page<\/span><\/a><span> for detailed information about placement tests and appropriate levels.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><span>If you\u2019ll fulfill the language requirement through transfer credit,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/admissions\/apply\/faqs-helpful-forms\/advanced-credit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <span>advanced credit (such as AP\/IB scores)<\/span><\/a><span>, or through native proficiency of another language, you have fulfilled your language requirement and can instead take a course of interest (as seen below).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Hub course<\/b><span>: When selecting Hub courses or other electives outside your major, focus on what subjects interest you \u2013 perhaps based on classes you\u2019ve enjoyed in the past or a new subject you\u2019re excited to try for the first time!\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><span>If you\u2019re not sure where to start, you can review our<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/casreg\/registration-instructions-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span> registration instructions<\/span><\/a><span> for tips on browsing by topic or Hub requirement.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>We encourage you to register as soon as you are able. <\/b><span>Be sure to keep the following in mind:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Four, 4-unit courses is the standard course load for each semester in CAS.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Utilize the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/casreg\/transfer-hub-and-major-guides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <b>Major + Hub Guides<\/b><\/a><span> to gain a better understanding of which courses to take this semester and which Hub requirements you will\/won\u2019t complete within your major.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Remember, course registration is an ongoing process<\/b><span> \u2013 once you\u2019ve selected classes, an advisor will review your schedule to make sure it meets your needs and goals.
