Registration Guide: Middle East & North Africa Studies

Students majoring in Middle East & North African (MENA) Studies will ordinarily, through coursework in the major, satisfy BU Hub requirements in Diversity, Civic Engagement, and Global Citizenship, as well as some requirements in Philosophical, Aesthetic and Historical Interpretation, Scientific and Social Inquiry, Communication, and the Intellectual Toolkit. Remaining BU Hub requirements will be satisfied by selecting from a wide range of available courses outside the major or, in some cases, cocurricular experiences. 

A typical first semester Middle East & North African Studies schedule looks:

  1. MENA Studies principal course
  2. MENA Studies language course or Course of interest
  3. Course of interest 
  4. Writing course
  5. Optional add-on: First-Year Seminar
