The seminar will be an informal Q&amp;A about what teaching at a mainly undergraduate institution is like. Lunch will be provided.\u00a0<\/span><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Dr. Lauren Rossi, \u00a0Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at Roger Williams University<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">She obtained a B.A. from Wheaton College, and then earned a Ph.D. from Brown University working with Prof. Amit Basu on the synthesis and evaluation of glycosyl triazoles as glycosidase inhibitors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">She then served as a\u00a0Postdoctoral Faculty Fellow\u00a0working in the Porco lab at BU prior to starting her position at Roger Williams.\u00a0While at BU, she\u00a0worked with the intensive\u00a0organic chemistry lab, directing the Capstone projects, and taught organic chemistry lecture.\u00a0 Since 2009, Dr. Rossi has been at Roger Williams University, a primarily undergraduate institution, teaching organic chemistry and mentoring undergraduates in research.\u00a0 She will share some of her experiences and answer questions about this type of teaching and research environment.<\/span><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><b>Who<\/b>: Graduate Students and Postdocs<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><b>When<\/b>: Thursday, November 15, 12 pm\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><b>Where<\/b>: LSEB 804<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span face=\"Arial\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Please join BUWIC TODAY at 12 pm for a lunch time seminar with Professor Lauren Rossi.
