FACE Day of Action

Thank you to all who participated in the FACE Day of Action this year, May 6th. We had several students contribute to advocating for food security, access to healthcare, community, and education (FACE) to combat various facets of poverty at the community, state, and federal levels. Since we see so many patients at BMC for whom this is an integral concern, we spent time on the Day of Action writing letters to our state senators to support children in the community.

We hosted a match panel for M4s who matched into pediatrics this March on 3/29! Our panel included several M4s with varied experiences, as well as Chief Resident at BCRP, Christine Cheston. Thank you to our panelists, who shared excellent advice and stories with us, and thank you to everyone who came!

Our panelists, and a few other M4s who were unable to make it, have shared their contact information, if you'd like to get in touch or have any questions:

Hopkins Elective for URM Students

Johns Hopkins Visiting Elective Program

Please see the above flyer for more information on this subsidized fourth year away elective for underrepresented minority students. Please contact the program with further questions and talk to your FSA if you are unsure if this is the opportunity for you.

Additionally, there are two graduating 4th years attending Hopkins the coming year, and another student who is finishing his intern year. If you're interested in getting in touch with any of them, please reach out.

Research Opportunity

Here is a research opportunity for the next 1-2 months.

We have conducting many interviews of pediatric providers and staff at three local community health centers about barriers and facilitators for behavioral health integration.  We will need someone (ideally someone who has done human subjects and HIPAA training so we can quickly add to the IRB) to help us read and code transcripts.

Please email peds.busm@gmail.com to get in touch with the researcher.
