First Lunch Talk of 2016-2017!
PEDS held our first lunch talk of the academic year on Wednesday, August 10th 2016. Our “Primer to Peds” introduced students to the array of opportunities to take advantage of in pediatrics at BUSM/BMC.
Dr. Robert Vinci, Chief of Pediatrics at BMC, and Dr. Elyse Portillo, Chief Resident of BRCP, were in attendance to welcome students to pediatrics at BUSM, give advice, and inspire students to be involved. Dr. Vinci also discussed the importance of the Rodman Ride and we now have ten students on Team BUSM Medical Students!
If you’re interested in participating in the Rodman Ride in any capacity – riding or fundraising – please sign up for our team at bmc.kintera.org/2016/busm. If you’d like to only help fundraise for the event, sign up as a “Virtual Rider”.
At the meeting, we also encouraged students to sign up for an AAP membership, and had student leaders from the following pediatrics-related groups present to recruit students for their groups: CHAP, StreetCred, DREAM, PumpStart, Sidekicks, STEP, REACH, and CAPE. More information can be found about these groups under “Pediatrics-related Service Learning” and “Advocacy Opportunities” in the sidebar.
We look forward to our upcoming year!
