Mission & Vision
Aging is the single largest risk factor for multiple human disorders. Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases—all become exponentially more likely as we age. Remarkably, the precise mechanisms of aging remain poorly understood and understudied.
The overall mission of our Center for Aging Research is to advance our knowledge of basic mechanisms driving aging and to translate these discoveries to clinical practice, to promote healthy aging in humans.
Our goals are to:
- Deliver internationally leading-edge aging research and provide a national platform for therapeutic translation
- Provide major added value to current research by bringing together cross-disciplinary research groups
- Disseminate knowledge through training of future leaders in cutting-edge bench and translational aging research and organization of symposia, workshops, training courses, etc.
- Deliver impact through application of new anti-aging treatment paradigms
