  1. After the first class or two, attendance<\/span> at class will be recorded.\u00a0 Classes are designed so that being present in class is part of your learning.\u00a0 Not all of this learning is tested.\u00a0 If you are frequently absent, a significant part of this learning has not taken place, and this may affect your grade.<\/li>\n
  2. The median<\/span> for most classes is usually a B+ (half below; half above).\u00a0 To attain this grade, your work must be very good.\u00a0 \u201cA\u201d grades are reserved for excellent work.<\/li>\n
  3. Organizing homework<\/span>: Please use the numbering provided in the homework specifications, if any and\/or the specified code organization.<\/li>\n
  4. Please retain<\/span> all graded assignments.<\/li>\n
  5. When you make a repeated error<\/span> in homework, only the first instance may be commented.<\/li>\n
  6. Late homework<\/span> will not be accepted unless there is a reason why submitting it on time was practically impossible.\u00a0 Examples of practical impossibility include illness and truly exceptional work deadlines.\u00a0 Being absent from class or being away on a business trip are not excuses for failure to submit homework.\u00a0 If it was practically impossible for you to submit on time, please submit the homework as soon as you can, and attach an description of the cause of lateness.\u00a0 Be prepared to submit documentation to back this up.\u00a0 The work will be graded on a pass\/fail basis.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Cite all references and uses of the work of other.\u00a0 All instances of plagiarism must be reported to the College for action.\u00a0 This generally results in a college-level hearing, typically during work hours, which you must attend.\u00a0 Possible remedies include expulsion from the College.\u00a0\u00a0 e-mail, see or call me if you have any doubts.\u00a0 In any case, clearly acknowledge all sources in the context they are used, including code, of course.\u00a0 Please see MET plagiarism policies<\/a> for examples and a fuller explanation.<\/li>\n
    2. I usually give letter grades for homework so that you know your grade status at all times.\u00a0 To average these, I translate them into numbers as explained in my grading policies<\/a><\/a>.<\/li>\n
    3. MET has mandated standards of written communication<\/a>.\u00a0 These should be followed, and may affect your grade on.<\/li>\n
    4. Unless stated otherwise, homework should be posted to the designated online site drop box.<\/li>\n
    5. Where possible, submit your homework, including source code, in a single Word document.\u00a0 This allows me to more easily insert feedback.<\/li>\n
