The social determinants of health <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">are separated<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> into five domains: economic stability, educational attainment, social and community context, access to health care, and neighborhoods and built environments. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Economic stability <\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">relates to the rate of employment and the ability to earn a reliable income in an area. Making sure that there is affordable housing or access to healthy food is significantly tied to a family&#8217;s economic stability. Not having access to healthy food and affordable housing <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">negatively<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> impacts young children and the neighborhood&#8217;s overall health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Educational attainment <\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">refers to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the access of attaining education and the quality of it as well<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Education equips people with the knowledge and abilities to successfully navigate a variety of complex systems, such as the legal, financial, and healthcare systems. People with higher levels of education are more likely to be able to access and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">make effective use of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the resources that are available, which improves health outcomes and management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Social and community context <\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is defined<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> as the social environments in which people live, including their relationships, support systems, and community involvement. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Health outcomes are significantly impacted by this context for a number of reasons<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> because of community safety, cultural norms, and social integration .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Access to healthcare <\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">has a big impact on the social determinants of health in a community<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, this<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> allows people to easily attain medical attention when needed. With access to healthcare the community&#8217;s overall health would be improved <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and also<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the life expectancy for individuals in the community <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">will<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> extended.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The built environment and neighborhoods<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">have an impact on<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> communities&#8217; social determinants of health as well. Communities can enhance physical activity and encourage healthier living <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">through the installation of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> sidewalks, bike lanes, walking trails, and green spaces.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Furthermore, the accessibility of community spaces may be restricted for individuals with disabilities and older populations if accessibility features are not given due consideration during design. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The social determinants of health can be defined as the conditions of an individual&#8217;s environment and how the characteristics of that environment directly influence their life.
