New Growths Pt. II: A Conversation on Indigenous Sovereignty & Sustainability

  • Starts: 1:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2025
  • Ends: 3:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2025
The “New England” region stands as a significant focal point for discussions surrounding historical injustices and Indigenous sovereignty. We invite you to join us on Friday, April 4, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for an event featuring a panel of Massachusett, Mashpee Wampanoag, and Aquinnah Wampanoag Indigenous leaders and tribal law scholars. Together, we will delve into issues of land stewardship, cultural integrity, and ecological sustainability within the context of Indigenous sovereignty. This event represents the second part of an ongoing dialogue series between Boston University and the University of Southern Maine, aimed at cultivating meaningful connections among Native and non-Native students, faculty, staff, and community members that extend beyond the event itself. Food will be provided to guests attending in person. Seats are limited. Reservations take place on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration is mandatory. Details of the event will be shared the week of the event.
