No wetlab work is permitted.<\/li>\n<li>Primarily involve analysis of biological data, which may include:\n<ol>\n<li>high throughput sequencing data (e.g. whole genome sequencing, single cell\/bulk RNASeq, etc)<\/li>\n<li>proteomics data (e.g. mass spectra)<\/li>\n<li>biomedical imaging (e.g. histological imaging)<\/li>\n<li>biomedical health record data<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Any data to be analyzed must already exist prior to project start<\/li>\n<li>Primarily utilize bioinformatics skills and techniques <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/bmsip\/curriculum\/\">covered by the MS Curriculum<\/a>, which may include\n<ol>\n<li>Biological sequence analysis (e.g. sequence alignment, genome assembly, etc)<\/li>\n<li>Statistical analysis<\/li>\n<li>Data Visualization<\/li>\n<li>Machine learning and AI<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>May be focused on:\n<ol>\n<li>Biological discovery<\/li>\n<li>Bioinformatics algorithm development<\/li>\n<li>Biological analysis software development (e.g. analysis pipelines)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Past Projects<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/bmsip\/2025\/06\/04\/bmsip-projects-2025\/\">BMSIP Projects 2025<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/bmsip\/2024\/06\/05\/bmsip-projects-2024\/\">BMSIP Projects 2024<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/bmsip\/2024\/06\/05\/bmsip-projects-2023\/\">BMSIP Projects 2023<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/bmsip\/2024\/06\/05\/bmsip-projects-2022\/\">BMSIP Projects 2022<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/bmsip\/2024\/06\/05\/90\/\">BMSIP Projects 2021<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BMSIP Project span a wide range of biological and biomedical subject areas.
