Practicum Details:\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
This practicum is designed to be a 16-20 hour\/week commitment with 50% effort in clinical research on a Behavioral Health Equity Program research project and 50% clinical service effort imbedded in a Boston Medical Center department clinic.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Trainees will have opportunities for individual therapy with adults 18+, case consultation, interdisciplinary collaboration, professional development, and didactic training. Depending on clinic, there may be opportunities for group therapy. All trainees will participate in clinical research; please see our Active Projects<\/a> page for possible opportunities. This practicum will meet requirements to be classified as an advanced practicum in Massachusetts.<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Importantly, this is an in-person practicum opportunity.<\/strong><\/span> Students will deliver care on the Boston Medical Center campus in the South End and at Fenway Health in Fenway.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

BMC Clinical Tracks:\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n

\n
\n
1. Psychodiagnostic Assessment (Integrated into Assessment Clinic in Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic<\/a>).<\/div>\n
2. Behavioral Medicine (Integrated into primary care or other physical health clinic at BMC)<\/div>\n
3. Substance Use\/PTSD Co-Occurring Disorders (Integrated into substance use or bridge clinic)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
This opportunity is ideal for a student interested in pursuing clinical work in: (1) clinical research and (2) traditional, outpatient clinical settings with a focus on caring for patients living with substance use disorders and HIV from underserved and multiply marginalized backgrounds.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Schedule:\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
1. This practicum will start mid-late August 2027 and end in early September 2028. There can be some flexibility around start and end dates.<\/div>\n
2. Students will be onsite at BMC for full days on Wednesdays (8:30-6 pm) and one more full day at Fenway Health. Both sites are accessible by public transit.<\/div>\n

Required Skills\/Experience:\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
1. At least one (1) year previous practicum experience (2+ preferred) and experience with CBT\/evidence-supported treatments<\/div>\n
2. Interest in behavioral health\/clinical trial research<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
3. For assessment track only: Previous comprehensive experience not required, but some familiarity with assessment\/diagnostic skills important<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
This opportunity is likely a good fit for individuals who have completed training and have experience in behavioral medicine\/health psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and\/or clinical assessment and who are interested in working with multiply minoritized individuals.<\/div>\n
