Many thanks to all who supported and participated in this group over the years. This page exists as a record of the group&#8217;s programming.<\/p>\n<p>In Spring 2021, we co-hosted with the University at Buffalo a series of conversations convened by Patricia A. Matthew: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patriciamatthew.com\/dialogues\"><strong>&#8220;Race, Blackness, and Romanticism: Dialogues.&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/barc\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=455&amp;action=edit\"><strong><\/strong><\/a> These featured conversations with Simon Gikandi (Princeton) and Lisa Lowe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/the-intimacies-of-four-continents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><\/em><\/a><em><\/em>(Yale); Peter Brathwaite (Actor\/Baritone) and Paterson Joseph <em><\/em> (Actor\/Playwright\/Writer); Christienna Fryar (Goldsmith&#8217;s University, London) and Jessica Marie Johnson (Johns Hopkins); and April 21: Marcos Gonsalez (Adelphi University) and Travis Chi Wing Lau (Kenyon College).<\/p>\n<p>These conversations were related to an upcoming Special Issue Prof. Matthew is editing for <em>Studies in<\/em> <em>Romanticism<\/em>, which came out in Spring 2022. At the time of the &#8220;conversations,&#8221; Patricia A. Matthew was 2020-2021 Center for Diversity Innovation Distinguished Visiting Scholar University at Buffalo and Associate Professor of English Montclair State University.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"content-panel\" id=\"post-281\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/barc\/files\/2015\/06\/Blake.jpg\" alt=\"Blake\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39 alignright\" width=\"220\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Past BARC events have included a two-day symposium, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/barc\/romanticism-in-a-new-key\/\">Romanticism In a New Key: A Symposium in Honor of Jerome McGann<\/a>; a one-day symposium, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/barc\/?p=29\">Romanticism in the Atlantic World<\/a>; lectures by <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/barc\/matthew\/\">Patricia A. Matthew<\/a> (Montclair State); <a href=\"http:\/\/english.ucla.edu\/people-faculty\/926\/\">Anahid Nersessian<\/a> (UCLA); <a href=\"\/barc\/files\/2017\/03\/Ian-Duncan-jpg.jpg\">Ian Duncan<\/a> (UC-Berkeley); <a href=\"\/barc\/files\/2016\/09\/Alan-Richardson-Poster-jpg.jpg\">Alan Richardson<\/a> (Boston College); <a href=\"\/barc\/files\/2015\/06\/Deidre-Lynch-Poster-High-res-e1433256588495.jpg\">Deidre Shauna Lynch<\/a> (Harvard University); seminars led by Emily Rohrbach (U-Manchester) and Sara Guyer (U-Wisconsin); a roundtable, &#8220;Teaching Romantic Lyric,&#8221; with Charles Mahoney (University of Connecticut), J. Jennifer Jones (University of Rhode Island), Emily Sun (Barnard College), and Carmen Faye Mathes (University of South Florida); and lunch-time lecture and conversation by Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/faculty-profiles\/james-uden\/\">James Uden<\/a> (BU, Classics) about his recent book <a href=\"https:\/\/global.oup.com\/academic\/product\/spectres-of-antiquity-9780190910273?cc=us&amp;lang=en&amp;\"><em>Spectres of Antiquity: Classical Literature and the Gothic, 1740-1830<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BARC was a friendly organization of teachers, scholars, and other interested parties who meet regularly to discuss Romantic Literature and its legacies.
