March 15. Park Güell

By Abrial Bonilla

Today we had the pleasure of touring the historic site of Park Güell. Whether you’re into art, nature, or just looking to walk your cute dog, this park has something for everyone. While waiting for entry, we saw a bachelorette party dressed as the Cheetah Girls! It seems they’re hitting up a bunch of Cheetah Girls-inspired locations dressed as the iconic girly pop group, how awesome. Anyways, back to Park Güell.

So, what is Park Güell? It’s basically a massive park designed by an architect named Antoni Gaudí. Picture this – colorful buildings, mosaic-covered benches, and wavy shapes everywhere you look. One of the coolest things about Park Güell is how it blends in with nature. There are winding paths surrounded by greenery, and then bam! You stumble upon these cool sculptures that look like they popped right out of a painting. Also, you can’t forget about the famous mosaic lizard.

Onto the must-see spots in Park Güell… There’s the main terrace with a bench covered in mosaic tiles (this bench is featured in the Cheetah Girls music video for ‘Strut’). Then there’s the Monumental Zone – some grand staircases, colorful pavilions, and epic views of the city skyline. Some advice I will give to those going again, wear some walking shoes and definitely dress for a hike! The stairs are no joke, but then it got chilly at night so a sweater is necessary.

I had a blast walking around this park and I got some great photos of the view. Anyone who goes next time will love this spot and the art integrated into it. And remember, STRUT LIKE YOU MEAN IT!
