Palau de la Música Catalana is a music hall located in the heart of Barcelona, Spain, which is one of the city’s most iconic buildings.

Designed by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, it was built between 1905 and 1908, not only inheriting the bright Catalan traditional style, but also boasting fluid curves and elaborate decorations that epitomize the characteristics of modernism. Inside, the hall is designed as a luminous and colorful artistic space, topped by a huge glass dome allowing natural light to flood the entire area. Adorning the top level of the building are statues of musicians from classical, romantic, and modern periods.
While from the second floor, visitors can also admire the statues reflected by the windows of the opposite building.
Palau de la Música Catalana is not only characterized by its architectural charm but also serves as a haven for music enthusiasts. The hall offers musical performances ranging from a wide variety of genres, from classical music to jazz and rock music etc.
Visitors of Palau de la Música Catalana cannot only enjoy captivating musical performances but also explore various areas of the music hall to learn its unique architectural design and historical backgrounds. We were luckily invited to visit the archive inside the building, which is housed numerous records and books dating back to the tenth century. At the end of the trip, the staff showcased an album containing manuscripts of many musicians and artists to us, which also includes a nice painting from Gaudí.
