March 10: Adventures

In the morning, we went to Caixa Forum to visit the Mummies of Egypt exhibition. We visited mummies and ancient Egyptian accessories and got a taste of ancient Egyptian fashion. One of the most striking things for me was the mummy of a young boy who was buried with some ancient Egyptian children’s toys. We asked our guide about the cause of the boy’s death, but he said he wasn’t sure, probably because of the infection. After the tour, we had a talk with Ignasi Miró, the corporate director of culture and science of La Caixa Foundation, and not only watched their a cappella version of “viva la vida” and their New York-Barcelona collaboration film, but also experienced the orchestra’s VR video. Everything was very impressive.

In the afternoon, my friends and I went to a 3-star Michelin restaurant called lasarte. I had an embarrassment  today, I was banned at the door for dressing too casually, so I had to go to the nearby mango and buy the cheapest pair of jeans to get in. The presentation of each dish was beautiful and exquisite and delicious.

After lunch, we went for a stroll through the Casa Mira. The architecture and interior of the Casa Mira were unique, and we got a tour of where the Spanish aristocracy once lived, and a taste of the fashionable life they once led.

In the evening, we went together to watch the concert of Spanish country band Tanxugueiras, which was very, very hot and each of us started to sing and dance. It felt like Tanxugueiras’ music has a very strong Spanish style, very unique and very edgy.

The day was over and I will always miss this day in Barcelona.
