\nKostas is a principal investigator in the Center for Regenerative Medicine (CReM) at Boston University and Boston Medical Center. He is also a\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Pulmonary<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and Critical Care attending in the Pulmonary, Allergy, Sleep & Critical Care Medicine Section of Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Kostas obtained his\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>MD\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>and PhD degrees from the University of Athens in Greece.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>He completed his internal medicine residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, TX followed by fellowships in Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary\/Critical Care Medicine at Boston University. During his fellowship, he trained in Dr. Darrell Kotton\u2019s laboratory at a time when reliable preclinical human disease models of pulmonary fibrosis were lacking. This inspired him to develop an iPSC platform for modeling the alveolar epithelial cell dysfunction at the inception of pulmonary fibrosis. Closely partnered with his research interests, Kostas co-leads the interstitial lung disease clinical program at Boston Medical Center where he is an attending pulmonologist.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vishal obtained his PhD degree in Bioengineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India, where he worked on engineering 3D hydrogel culture systems to model\u00a0<\/span>Mycobacterium tuberculosis<\/i>\u00a0infection in vitro.\u00a0 He is excited by interdisciplinary research and is interested in modeling various interstitial lung diseases using iPSC-derived cell lineages to find new therapeutics. His non-academic interests include playing field hockey<\/span>, trekking,\u00a0<\/span>off-road biking, and exploring new cuisines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jonathan attended medical school at Duke University School of Medicine and received his Masters in Public Health at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He completed an internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital, and is now a pulmonary fellow at Boston University \/ Boston Medical Center. He is interested in interstitial lung disease and pursuing a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms at play in fibrotic lung disease. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and traveling.<\/p>\n

Porter Dooley<\/strong><\/p>\n

Porter is PhD student in the department of Molecular and Translational Medicine. Before attending Boston University, she received her B.S. in Biology at Northeastern University. Her thesis work focuses on using patient-derived induced alveolar type 2 cells to study the convergence theory of pulmonary fibrosis. In her free time, Porter enjoys running, drawing and spending time with friends & family.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dakota received her BS in Physiology and Neurobiology from University of Connecticut. She is interested in studying the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases and discovering potential therapeutics. She plans to attend grad school to obtain her PhD. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and playing tennis.<\/p>\n

Angelica will be helping to establish a biorepository for ILD patients. She is originally from Chicago and received her BS in Biomedical Engineering from Yale University. She plans to attend medical school in the future. In her free time, Angelica enjoys playing music, traveling, and staying active.<\/p>\n
