Austin Wyant is a medical student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s M.D. program. He chose to pursue a medical career to help people achieve their best physical and mental health through research and clinical care. His research interests include skin cancer, sun protection practices, medical education, and general dermatology. He is currently in a research year between his third and fourth year of medical school. Under the mentorship of Dr. Rhoda Alani, he was invited to be the 2022-2023 Melanoma Research Fellow at the Boston University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology.

As a former US-UK Fulbright Scholar, Austin obtained his master’s degree in health psychology from the University of Stirling. While abroad, he used his extensive counseling experience to work as a child contact supervisor at Family Mediation Central Scotland. Austin is also a graduate of Florida State University, where he was a baritone player, row leader, and four-year member of the world-renowned Marching Chiefs. His hobbies include exercise, music, and travel. In addition to learning various basic and translational science research techniques, he is excited to learn more about the history and culture of Boston and the rest of New England, a place he now calls home.
