We will also further develop\u00a0a method for using teeth to measure these exposures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>This study is part of an overarching goal to work with the community of Holliston to understand the amount of contamination in their drinking water currently and when their children were <em>in utero<\/em> and infants, and whether this level of contamination is associated with children\u2019s health outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><span>ACHIEVE<\/span> is a non-profit study being conducted at Boston University, in collaboration with Clark University and Holliston community members. It is currently being funded as a pilot study by Boston University.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Why is the study located in Holliston, MA?<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Drinking water can contain contaminants,\u00a0such as lead, manganese or disinfection byproducts, that may be harmful to our health. These contaminants can occur naturally in the environment or result from industrial pollution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Drinking water contamination is especially common in places where drinking water comes from shallow sources, such as in Holliston.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Some Holliston residents\u00a0are concerned with contaminants in their drinking water and their children\u2019s health. They contacted Clark University and Boston University researchers who have expertise in drinking water systems, metals\u00a0and children&#8217;s health\u00a0in order to understand\u00a0whether contaminants in their current and past drinking water may be linked to poorer health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What are the eligibility requirements?<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Eligible female participants are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>current residents of Holliston, Massachusetts<\/li>\n<li>mothers who lived in Holliston during their pregnancy<\/li>\n<li>mothers who have a child who has lost or is currently losing teeth<\/li>\n<li>willing to donate at least one baby tooth that their child has lost<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What are the study objectives?<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>In our current pilot study, we seek to collect at least one shed baby tooth from each child\u00a0and measure metals\u00a0and other contaminants in teeth. No individual information will be shared.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>This study will be used to further develop\u00a0our method for measuring contaminants in teeth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What is required of participants?<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>One 10-minute, in-person questionnaire. Researchers will conduct the questionnaire\u00a0at\u00a0<span>the participant\u2019s home<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Donation of at least one shed baby tooth from the child who was <em>in utero<\/em> while\u00a0his\/her mother was a resident of\u00a0Holliston, Massachusetts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">What do participants get for participating?<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>As a gift to you and your child for participating, we will provide a gift card to a local coffee shop.<\/li>\n<li>You and your child being in this study will\u00a0help researchers learn how to measure contaminants that children were exposed to <em>in utero<\/em> and during early life.
