Welcome to our Summer Institute website.  The BU Summer Institute in Geriatric Medicine began in 1988 and has evolved to meet the needs of students contemplating careers in geriatrics.  In addition to providing a week packed with research and clinical experiences, the Summer Institute is designed to build on your training to date, to allow you to meet like-minded students, and to introduce you to some wonderful faculty role models.  In so doing, we hope that it will help you to be better informed about career options and your next steps in training.  Please feel free to contact us if you have questions about the program or the application process.

Rebecca A. Silliman, MD, PhD

This week long conference will provide medical students who are entering their 3rd or 4th year of medical school in 2016 with an opportunity to gain exposure to academia and research in geriatric medicine. Activities include lectures, seminars, and case discussions as well as site visits to research and clinical programs. Faculty members will include nationally recognized academic geriatricians and other individuals pursuing research in geriatrics and gerontology.

The goal of the Summer Institute is to stimulate interest in pursuing careers in academic geriatric medicine and geriatric research.
