Now Hiring: Postdoctoral Fellow

The BUMC-MGH Global Psychiatry Clinical Research Training Program is seeking a postdoctoral fellow who will receive up to three years of dedicated mentorship from Drs. Conall O’Cleirigh, Christina Psaros, and Amelia Stanton, who currently have several projects in sub-Saharan Africa that are focused on developing and testing psychosocial interventions to support engagement and retention in HIV, TB, and cervical cancer cascades of care. The fellow will also develop an independent research project under the guidance and supervision of these US-based mentors, and in collaboration with other primary mentors who are based in sub-Saharan Africa. The postdoctoral fellow will have access to resources across the institutions that are affiliated with the program and with their mentors, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, Boston University Medical Center, and Boston University. The start date for this position is July 1, 2024.

Required Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be a citizen or noncitizen national of the United States, or they must have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment.
  • The candidate must have completed their psychiatry residency, possess a PhD in psychology, possess a PhD from an accredited School of Public Health, or possess a PhD in the health sciences to be eligible to apply for this fellowship.
  • The candidate must have emerging evidence of research scholarship and a strong interest in conducting intervention development work in sub-Saharan Africa.

    • Research interests include: sexual, reproductive and mental health disparities, health behaviors, global mental health, women’s health, pregnancy and the postpartum period, diverse sexual identities, gender diverse individuals.
    • Commitment to a career in research: Ideal research experience includes both individual research (e.g. senior or master’s thesis or research projects, first-authored posters, papers or talks) and collaborative research (working in a research lab, collecting data, conducting data analyses, co-authoring on papers or posters).
    • (Some) previous research experience.
    • Commitment to SRM Health Disparities Program’s mission: to reduce mental health barriers that negatively affect sexual and reproductive health. Our goal is to minimize sexual, reproductive, and mental health disparities in minoritized and marginalized populations at the global and local levels. 
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion: The SRM Health Disparities Program is committed to building an inclusive, diverse, and supportive environment in our work space and across our projects. Our goal is to cultivate a diverse and positive lab environment that embraces our differences to generate more rigorous and comprehensive science. 
    • Other qualities:
      • Interested in completing an independent study and/or directed study
      • GPA 3.0+
      • Able to commit to 12-15 hours per week (Monday – Friday) for at least one year
