One of three workforce training programs directed by the Activist Lab, SHIELD provides training to school nurses and other school health personnel in Massachusetts. Our mission is to advance school health practice to meet the needs of diverse, multi-cultural students. SHIELD offers continuing nursing and medical education credit, curated resources, and leadership development for comprehensive school health programs.

Shield Social Media Intern

Job Description
SHIELD is looking for a student intern to facilitate a professional social media presence for the program. This will include but not be limited to:
• Research best practices for a professional, governmentally affiliated social media presence
• Design a sustainable work plan including setting specific goals and timeline objectives for outreach and communication strategies
• Create rapport and communication with respected school health entities in Massachusetts
• Organize and disseminate information on trainings, workshops and relevant articles to school health professionals on a monthly basis
• Maintain a database of resources/social media accounts to find content to post
• Create engaging and thought provoking content

Qualifications:
• A desire to learn about what it takes to create a social media presence
• A strong interest in social media and digital marketing
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• An understanding of social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and the way these can be utilized to communicate with health professionals
• Knowledge of WordPress helpful
• An interest in learning about school health

Prefer student to have completed or currently be taking:
SPH PH 718: Leadership and Management for Public Health
Estimated Hours & Timeframe: March 2019 – June 2019, 20 hrs/week; the position is suitable to meet the requirement of the MPH practicum
