Hello School Nurse Managers,
School has already started for many and will soon be in full swing for all! I’m writing once again with updates from the DPH School Health Program.
Orientation for Model and Affiliated CSHS-funded programs will take place September 19th (all programs) and September 20th (Model programs only). Registration is now open: please register for the correct orientation on BU SHIELD’s website at https://www.bucme.org/node/1079.
I am so pleased to announce that Juliet Berk has started with the Department as the new Contract Manager for the CSHS programs—welcome Juliet! She is your main point of contact for all contract questions, and can be reached at Juliet.Berk1@state.ma.us. Many of you who have been awarded Affiliated contracts have emailed me about these—you did not miss anything, we have not sent them out yet. Please watch this space and we hope to have them out very soon.
All Regional Consultant positions have been filled. As we continue to staff up here at DPH, we encourage you to reach out to your regional consultant with questions, as they will be best suited to help.
- West Region (Region 1): Veronica Webb Barrett email@example.com
- Central Region (Region 2): Jill Connolly firstname.lastname@example.org
- Northeast Region (Region 3): Shanyn Toulouse email@example.com

Many of you have already had the opportunity to speak with Evelyn Levenson, who has been capably handling our medication delegation program after Janet’s retirement. Please continue to work with her directly for any questions related to this program. She can be reached at Evelyn.Levenson@state.ma.us.
Save the Dates
Required Nurse Leader meetings for both Model and Affiliated programs will take place:
- December 3
- March 5
- May 21 (school superintendents should plan to attend as well)
This year, we are offering a full School and Community Health Equity Needs Assessment (SCHENA) course. The course is required for Model programs but open to anyone else who would like to attend and is willing to commit to the full year-long course. Attached is a summary of the course along with a schedule of sessions. There will be more information about this course at the orientation meeting on the 19th.
We look forward to continuing to work with you. Best of luck for a great start to the school year!
